You have a say in how to use your outstanding annual leave

You have a say in how you use annual leave accumulated in 2013-14, whether you take the time off or ask for a payout from CBC. CBC management cannot unilaterally pay out your earned annual leave.

This is different from unused Lieu time. Last year the CMG and CBC agreed to
extend the 2013 earning period for time off in lieu until May 31, 2014. You
will have until the end of August to use up the accumulated time. Starting in
2014, the new earning period runs from June 1 to May 31 of the following year,
and you can take the unused time no later than August 31 in the following year.
Any unused balance will be paid out in September.

Nothing in the CMG collective agreement limits how much annual leave you can carry over from one year to the next; however, you must get agreement from management. If you prefer to take your accumulated time as leave, you must work with your manager to schedule it.

According to the collective agreement, every effort will be made to schedule annual leave in a manner that is satisfactory to employees and CBC. However, CBC has the ultimate right to schedule unused leave if you don’t reach an agreement with your manager over timing.

In addition to earned leave, you are now able to buy 2 weeks of additional leave (you must apply by March 19). Check with your local union executive for details.
