Reminder: CMG elections – You have until Monday Oct. 24 to submit nominations

You have one more week to submit nominations for CMG elected positions at all levels – national, branch and local. Nominations are open until Monday, October 24. The vote will be held December 1 to 5, 2016, and the winners at the National and Branch levels will start their three-year term on January 1, 2017. Elected officers at the location unit level start on the same date but for two-year mandates.

To find out more about the roles and responsibilities of the various positions, visit our website where we’ve set up a portal for all elections-elected information including the nomination form. We’ll also be posting biographical notes on candidates, so you’ll know more about the people you want to vote for.

Here are the positions that are available at the national level:

National Executive Committee (NEC):
President
Vice-President
Secretary-Treasurer (Note: This person must live within 150 km of Toronto)
Director, Francophone Issues
Director, Human Rights and Equity

National Trustees:
Trustee (3 positions)

Positions that report to the NEC:
Director, Education
Director, New Members
Director, Small Branches (Note: Only those members in branches other than CBC/Radio-Canada or The Canadian Press are eligible to run for or vote for this position)

The following positions are elected by all APTN Branch membersin good standing:

President
Vice-President
Secretary-Treasurer

The following positions are elected by all CBC/Radio-Canada Branch members in good standing:

President
Vice-President
Secretary-Treasurer
Director SRC (Note: This position is elected by CMG members at CBC/Radio-Canada who work in French in all locations)
Director – Diversity and Human Rights

The following positions are elected by the members in the given region or constituency:

Director – Atlantic
Director – BC
Director – North
Director – Ontario (outside Toronto)
Director – Prairies
The position of Director – Toronto is held ex officio by the president of the Toronto location unit.

The following positions are elected by all CP/Pagemasters Branch members in good standing:

Vice-President
Secretary-Treasurer

The following positions are elected by all Freelance Branch members in good standing:

President
Vice-President
Secretary-Treasurer

The following positions are elected by all Private Radio Branch members in good standing:

Secretary-Treasurer

The following positions are elected by all Shaw/Corus Branc members in good standing:

The following positions are elected by all Thomson Reuters Branch members in good standing:

For elections at the Location unit level, please check with a member of your location unit executive to find out which positions are available.
