Call for nominations – CMG Location Unit elections

Nominations are now open for all positions on Canadian Media Guild (CMG) Location Unit Executive Committees (LECs), including our CBC Toronto location unit. 

The election votes will be held between November 27 and December 1, 2020, and the elected candidates will start their two-year terms on January 1, 2021, in accordance with Article 6.14 of the CMG by-laws.
 
All CMG members in good standing are eligible to run for positions on CMG LECs, provided you are a member at that Location Unit.
 
Here are a few things to know about the process:
 
Location Unit structures and positions

The CBC Toronto location unit is holding elections for specific portfolios this year.  Those positions are:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Director of SRC
  • Director of New Members & Precarious Workers
  • Director of Human Rights, Equity, & Diversity
  • Director of Wellness / Health & Safety
  • 3 Chief Stewards

Location Unit Election Committees

Each location unit will set up a Location Unit Election Committee that will be responsible for running its own election.  This year, the CBC Toronto Election Committee consists of:

Nominations due Friday, October 30

To put your name forward, or to nominate one of your co-workers, please download and complete the nomination form here.

The candidate, nominator and two seconders must all be CMG members in good standing.

Completed nomination forms can be handed to your Location Unit Elections Committee by 5 p.m. (local time) Friday, October 30.

If you are having problems getting nomination forms signed due to Covid, please follow the instructions below from the CBC Toronto Election Committee:

1) Nomination forms can be downloaded from our website and filled out, scanned (or snapped the photo) and use it as an email attachment. 
 
2) Nominator’s email (not the candidate or seconders) will contain maximum 4  attachments of nomination form but ideally one with names and signatures of one nominator, two seconders and one candidate. 
 
3) The Election Committee will accept ONE nomination email per candidate.
 
4) The Election Committee will reply to the nominator only with the confirmation of reception.
