Guest Michael D’Souza joined us to explain more about Article 34, Producer’s Authority in the CA

–history, context and what it means for members, how it’s applied

ONGOING BUSINESS

Bargaining/ratification update (raise/retro pay/temp benefits)

FAQ from Sandy on the new collective agreement

Layoff updates:

LJEC meeting weekly

Pensions surplus update

–still waiting on update form OSFI (Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions), ie the federal regulator

–regulator doesn’t have to abide by  anyone’s  timeline, it’s now in their hands & we don’t know the timeline

Steward’s Training Update

–The LEC has a running list of those who have reached out with interest about training, but recognizes burnout and so will take that off their plate

–will set a date and run the training with Matt Douglas and will put out a call out

Communications Update:

–Reminder for LEC members to keep updating the LEC calendar that we all have access to

–we really need to update the website once Andrew returns and sharing ideas for content and updates of the site

May Day Prep

–prep and planning is well underway

– cookies have been ordered vegan & gluten free options

–events hours 9am to 3pm ET

Resignation from the LEC:

Jann  Shreve has resigned from the LEC as ??Director of Human Rights, Equity and Diversity

–motion to accept the resignation: Arman

–now technical vacancy on the LEC

–A callout will go out  in the next couple of weeks for members to indicate if they are interested in this portfolio, then 2 week nomination period, so please talk it up with members

Let’s Talk about the Next 3 Months!

–end of April CWA conference in Moncton, New Brunswick

–May 24 to 26th, 2024  President’s Council including presidents from all CBC locations, Branch Executive Committee, staff reps, bargaining team and scholarship recipients.

–training, team building and brainstorming about mobilizations

–Ice Cream Day in June 

–June 13th or 20th – date TBC
