LEC Meeting Minutes – March 31, 2022

Adoption of agenda – Talk about Member Engagement first before budget (Naomi) – Krista moves, Kat seconds, passed unanimously.

Adoption of past minutes – Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022 – Lyne moves, David seconds, passed unanimously.

Welcome back to Kat and Jann. 

Ongoing Business

Member Engagement

The following member engagement events were discussed:

• May Day Cookies: Cookies will be distributed in the CBC Toronto office on Monday, May 2nd. CMG LEC will send an email to the membership with details.
• Ice Cream Day: There will be an ice cream day at the end of July. Date TBD.
• Pandemic-span welcome back party for all members: a BBQ at the end of September. Date TB.
• Holiday Party: Will be looking into an in-person holiday party this winter. Date TBD.
• Motion: Naomi moves that the CBC Toronto Local spend up to $15,000 on a pandemic-span welcome back party for all members (including CBC essential & WFH), and 2020-2022 CBC retirees, and invitees this fall. Kat seconds. Motion carries unanimously.

2022 Budget

• The 2022 budget was discussed.
• Motion: Matt moves that LEC approves the proposed 2022 Toronto CBC budget as drafted in the shared document. Krista seconds. Motion carries unanimously.

Chief Steward By-Election

• The by-election deadline has been extended to Tuesday, April 12th.
• An email to all members was sent out by the election committee.
• The results of the extension and next steps will be discussed at the May 5th LEC meeting. 

New Business

LEC Meetings Phase 3

• The group discussed virtual, in-person at CBC, or hybrid meetings when office integration happens.
• The LEC will reassess the situation and everyone’s working arrangements in the fall when we start into our fall meetings.

Telework

• The group discussed CBC’s implementation of its telework policies and how to best support members through the process.
• There is no 3-day limit on sick days if you have symptoms of Covid and are unable to work. You will need to self-assess and self-complete a medical absence report, which will be sent to Disability Management. You are not required to supply a doctor’s note. (Please refer to IO for the full process and rules.)
