The Guild’s national executive committee has decided that rebuilding the union following the layoffs of the past couple of years is our main priority next year.
What this means is that we are going to put our main energies and resources toward organizing new workplaces, or new departments in our current workplaces.
And I couldn’t be happier. For years, our work has been dominated by reacting to crisis upon crisis that are either out of our control or somewhat predetermined. Things that are usually linked to collective bargaining or layoffs or both.
