News from ZoomerMedia Branch

Hello everyone: it’s been a great summer but unfortunately it’s back to work. Your union executive has a reminder, a bit of news, and a request. Please read on:

Salary increase effective September 1
Although the summer is now behind us, one good thing about September is your paycheque will be going up. As negotiated in the new Collective Agreement, all CMG members will receive an increase of 1.5% effective September 1st.

New CMG Staff Rep to serve members at ZoomerMedia
CMG staff representative Terri Monture is taking over the lead on service to members at ZoomerMedia, Television Division, this month. Keith Maskell, our go-to rep since 2005, has taken over servicing for the Guild at The Canadian Press following the retirement of CMG staff rep Kathy Viner.

Keith and Terri are working together to make sure the transition is smooth for everyone. You can reach Terri at terri@cmg.ca or by calling the Guild office at 416-591-5333, ext. 245.

Terri joined the CMG staff in 2009 after being the unit chair for her union at Now Magazine for 12 years. She now works with CMG members at the Aboriginal Peoples’ Television Network and Shaw Television as well as on human rights and equity initiatives. We are looking forward to working with her.

We would like to thank Keith for all his work on behalf of members at ZoomerMedia. Since 2005, he has led negotiations for two collective agreements and helped us resolve many issues with management.

We still need a secretary-treasurer
As you all have probably forgotten by now, we have a vacancy on the branch executive after the departure of Marie Lofranco earlier this year. We are still looking for a volunteer to take on this position. If you are interested, please speak to one of us.

If you need any help or have any questions, please talk to one of us or get in touch with Terri at the Guild office. Also, if you ever need anything from the Guild office and Terri is not available, you can talk to Louise St-Amand, the CMG’s union services co-ordinator (louise@cmg.ca).

Your Guild executive:
Rob VanSickle, branch president
Matt Duffy, branch vice president
