Maternity and parental leave top-up rates confirmed for Guild members at Shaw Media

Here are the top-ups for members who take maternity or parental leave at Shaw Media.  These rates are effective from September 1, 2012.  Any employee who received a lower top-up since September 1, 2012 will be reimbursed retroactively:

Maternity Leave

Maternity Leave (2-week waiting period)
During the waiting period before EI becomes effective, the company will pay 70% of normal (base) gross earnings.

Maternity Leave (13-week top-up)
The company will top-up from the EI amount (55% of weekly earnings to a maximum of $485) to a payment equal to 70% of normal (base) gross earnings.

Parental Leave

Parental Leave (2-week waiting period)
During the waiting period before EI becomes effective, the company will pay 70% of normal (base) gross earnings.

Parental Leave (10-week top-up)
The company will top-up from the EI amount (55% of weekly earnings to a maximum of $485) to a payment equal to 70% of normal (base) gross earnings for 10 weeks.
