Your Guild executive met with ZoomerMedia management on Thursday, June 5, 2014 in our first Joint Committee Meeting since ratifying our new Collective Agreement.
Since January, we have welcomed 10 new TV production workers into our bargaining unit. We asked what the company’s plans are for the 2014-15 television season and were told they are still in discussion with television production management about what the new show will look like.
We discussed the role of the two “segment producers” currently on staff who are excluded from our bargaining unit. We were informed these segment producers fill the role of managing executive producer and have the ability to hire and fire employees, in addition to deciding the overall look and feel of the show. We will monitor the segment producer role as the new production season gets underway.
At the joint meeting, we also cleared up some minor discipline issues and have agreed to communicate clearly and in a timely fashion when issues pop up.
