We join in the call for improved protection for journalists everywhere

As we learn more about the horrifying attack at the Charlie Hebdo magazine’s office in Paris today, our thoughts are with the 12 journalists, staff and police officers who were killed, those who were wounded, as well as their families and colleagues.

Today’s events are unfolding in a climate of increased attacks on journalists around the world, with 90 journalists killed and 176 journalists jailed, in 2014 alone.

CMG joins with those who call for improved protections for journalists everywhere so they can continue to do the crucial work of informing us about what goes on in our communities – because “journalism is not a crime”

This Je suis Charlie facebook page has been set up in solidarity; #JeSuisCharlie is also a hashtag on Twitter.
