As of yesterday, you are being asked to participate in a confidential corporate-wide survey. There are two things we would like you to be aware of.
First, unlike the last dialogue survey, your union was not consulted in the preparation of the survey. While that is unfortunate as we believe our input can bring focus to important questions, it remains that this is still a real opportunity for all of you to let management know your thoughts on a variety of topics as employees of the CBC.
As noted in previous communications to you, CMG understands that the move to digital platforms is inevitable, but we strongly believe it should not be to the detriment of other CBC services. It is important that CBC senior management and the Board of Directors know what you think and feel during these very difficult times at the public broadcaster. We encourage you to take the time to ask the Board of Directors and the CEO to speak up for the CBC, loudly and publicly.
Secondly, it has come to our attention that the data collected by Gallup is stored in the U.S. and subject to U.S. privacy laws. We believe that employees should have been informed of this prior to the launch of the survey. The decision to participate in the survey remains yours alone of course, but, we thought you should know this information up front.
We will be calling on management to make the full results of the survey known to all employees.
