Your Guild bargaining committee met with TVO management yesterday in a continued attempt to kick-start bargaining, which stalled after members rejected a monetary offer last February.
This summer, we have discussed non-monetary issues and have agreed to a number of company proposals including changes to the Outside Activities/Conflict of Interest provisions (Article 38) to reflect the requirements of the Public Service Act of Ontario. But bargaining has been one-sided. The company has rejected our proposals without offering any counters. They are so far refusing to consider our proposals for more vacation flexibility during the year, the introduction of a producers’ integrity clause, a shorter probation period, and inclusion of Guild members in the TVO hybrid pension plan.
We are scheduled to meet again with management on September 16. We will be prepared for real negotiations and hope the company is ready to meet us half way.
We plan to hold a membership meeting before the September 16 talks to discuss next steps. Stay tuned for an invitation.
