Your Bargaining Committee met with VICE management this week to present a comprehensive package of contract language and monetary proposals that will form the foundation of a meaningful Collective Agreement. The company seemed responsive, and informed us it will be undertaking a Pay Equity study to make sure any salary difference related to gender is corrected as part of our first contract. We are optimistic this will be done quickly, as we put together a collective agreement that works for VICE and for you, their employees.
We continue to negotiate a pay and salary scale that match job function with pay rates, plus a plan for wage increases over time. The purpose of this salary grid in the collective agreement is to set the minimum amount the company pays for each job. This still allows anyone to ask for or negotiate higher pay, while stopping anyone from being paid less than the agreed minimum. These ongoing negotiations at the bargaining table do not affect the upcoming Performance Reviews, so we encourage you to ask for a raise, more annual leave, or other benefits as you normally would.
If you have any questions, please ask anyone of us on the bargaining team or email Terri or Federico in the CMG office.
