There are two union gatherings in Pittsburgh this August that will connect our union Local, the Canadian Media Guild (CMG), with our fellow union locals and union members within the Communications Workers of America and The NewsGuild-CWA.
The CWA’s biennial Convention (August 7 to 8) is key to the governance of our international union and an opportunity to share information and to strategize on matters of mutual concern.
Likewise, The NewsGuild-CWA Sector Conference (August 4 to 5) connects us with other journalists and media workers – fellow union members – at media organizations across North America.
The Canadian Media Guild will be sending delegates to the CWA Convention and the NewsGuild-CWA Sector Conference.
The Canadian Media Guild, represents over 5000 members, including employees at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation / Société Radio-Canada, The Canadian Press and Pagemasters North America, Thomson Reuters, the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, TVO, TFO, Corus, VICE Media, ZoomerMedia, AFP and in private radio, as well as freelancers.
Our fellow CWA Locals across Canada and the United States represent another 500,000 more union members who work in the areas of telecommunications and information technology, the airline industry, news media, broadcast and cable television, education, health care, manufacturing and other fields.
