My Name is Carrie Bradshaw, and I would like your support to be a delegate to the upcoming Biennial CWA Convention. I am a News Editor at CBC Toronto.
I want to help represent you because I value the voice our union gives us, and I have the experience to serve you well.
I have represented the CMG at local and national levels, and served on both national executive committees, the BEC and the NEC.
In more than twenty years as a dedicated volunteer, I have been a member of my local executive committee, a former President of CBC’s largest local (CBC Toronto), and past vice-president of the CBC branch executive.
I’ve chaired or been a contributing member on dozens of committees, including labour-management, grievance, workload reviews, and helping temporary workers press for more stable careers. I have fought for increased rights and respect for all media workers, regardless of platform.
I have worked in administration, in the newsroom and in the technical departments at CBC. That experience has given me a wide understanding of the increasing challenges and pressures we all face.
On a personal note, I come from a long line of activists, my great grandfather was a United Mine Worker executive, my grandfather a Steward for the United Auto and Aerospace Workers and my father is a long time CBC union activist and union staff representative.
My greatest satisfaction is helping people resolve problems.
Thank you for reading this, and for supporting your union by voting.
I hope I can count on your support
